Ingredients

Scale

12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter (for sautéing)
8 slices provolone cheese
4 tablespoons butter, melted (for topping)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: Prepared cheese sauce for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers until softened and slightly caramelized.
Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to create a slab base and a top slab.
Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish.
Layer the roast beef over the rolls, followed by the sautéed onion and pepper mixture.
Arrange the slices of provolone cheese on top of the beef and vegetable layer.
Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese.
In a small bowl, whisk together the 4 tablespoons of melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
Brush the butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
Cut into individual sliders and serve warm with optional cheese sauce.

Notes

Ensure the onions and peppers are sliced thinly so they cook through quickly during sautéing. You can assemble these ahead of time and keep them in the refrigerator, but let them come up to room temperature slightly before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
