Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup beef broth
1/3 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
10 oz linguine, spaghetti, or rice noodles
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
4 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

Cook noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef, and cook until browned, breaking into small pieces.
Stir in minced garlic, ground ginger, and black pepper, sautéing for 2 minutes.
Add brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce, stirring to combine.
Reduce heat to low, mix in cornstarch and water to create a slurry, and simmer until sauce thickens.
Stir in red pepper flakes (if using) and adjust seasoning if needed.
Add cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce, or serve sauce over noodles.
Garnish with green onions and serve warm.

Notes

Use a low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels
Hoisin sauce can be substituted with a mix of soy sauce and brown sugar (1:1 ratio) if unavailable
Adjust noodle cooking time based on package instructions
Leftovers can be stored airtight in the fridge for up to 2 days
