At Clarice Sweet Cocina, I’m Clarice — a home cook, recipe creator, and storyteller from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I live here with my husband, our spirited six-year-old daughter, my incredible mother, and the heart of our home — my grandma, Carmen.(about clarice)
If you step into my kitchen, you’ll likely be greeted by the cozy scent of cinnamon and chile, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of food made with love. It’s where generations meet — and where every recipe begins with family.
My journey into cooking began long before I could even reach the stove. Growing up in a multigenerational home was like living in a delicious storybook. My mother worked hard to support us, and while she was out building her career, my grandmother filled our home with the flavors and traditions of Michoacán, Mexico.
Grandma Carmen taught me everything she knew — how to turn sugar into golden caramel, how to fold tamales just right, and how to balance sweetness with spice. But most of all, she taught me that cooking isn’t just about recipes — it’s about love, patience, and family.
There were plenty of kitchen disasters along the way — burned flan, spicy salsas gone wrong, tamales that refused to hold their shape — but Carmen never scolded. She’d just smile, pull up a stool, and show me again, her hands and heart always open. And my mother, even after long days at work, would join us for a plate of enchiladas or a slice of tres leches cake, always saying, “It tastes like home.”
Today, I share that same spirit here at ClariceRecipes.com — a cozy corner of the internet where Mexican desserts meet everyday meals. Whether it’s a creamy flan, a comforting bowl of pozole, or a refreshing glass of horchata, every recipe carries a piece of my family’s story.
I’m not a trained chef with fancy diplomas — I’m a home cook with flour on my apron, chile on my hands, and a heart full of memories. Every dish I share at Clarice Sweet Cocina is a celebration of heritage, warmth, and the sweetness of simple moments shared around the table.
If you love authentic Mexican desserts and want to bring a touch of nostalgia into your kitchen, join me on this journey. Let’s make every meal a memory — one cinnamon-kissed bite at a time.
