Description
French Toast Cups are a fun twist on classic French toast, made with brioche bread soaked in a cinnamon vanilla custard and baked into golden, crispy-edged cups.
Ingredients
6 slices brioche or challah bread
3 large eggs
3/4 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Pinch of salt
Butter or cooking spray
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or berries
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a muffin tin.
2. Cut bread slices into quarters.
3. Press 3 to 4 pieces into each muffin cup to form a cup shape.
4. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
5. Pour custard mixture evenly over bread cups.
6. Gently press bread to absorb the liquid.
7. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes until golden and set.
8. Let cool slightly, remove, and serve with toppings.
Notes
Use day-old bread for best texture.
Do not overfill with custard.
Grease muffin tin well.
Let cool before removing for clean shape.
Store leftovers in fridge up to 3 days.
