Description
A traditional no-bake Mexican dessert made with lime, sweetened milk, and Maria cookies layered into a refreshing cake.
Ingredients
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 4–6 limes)
1–2 sleeves of Galletas Marías (Maria cookies)
1–2 teaspoons lime zest (optional)
Instructions
1. Blend condensed milk, evaporated milk, and lime juice until smooth.
2. Place a layer of Maria cookies in a square or rectangular dish.
3. Pour a layer of the lime mixture over the cookies and spread evenly.
4. Repeat the cookie and cream layers until the mixture is used up, finishing with cream on top.
5. Cover and chill the Carlota in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
6. Garnish with lime zest before serving. Slice and enjoy cold.
Notes
Galletas Marías can be substituted with graham crackers or vanilla wafers.
Add a layer of whipped cream or tropical fruits for variations.
Best enjoyed within 3–5 days for freshness.
